Overview

Discover the taste of exceptional coffee from deep within Myanmar's remote Pinlaung region. Introducing 'Behind the Leaf', a micro-mill managed by Melanie Edwards, an American dedicated to enriching the lives of the Pa-O villages in Southeast Asia through coffee cultivation and clean water systems.

Melanie and her team are creating a powerful impact on Myanmar's off-grid communities, battling limited infrastructure and the title of second-largest opium producer worldwide. Despite these challenges, they persevere, promoting sustainable activities and producing top-notch coffee. The result? Outstanding beans, primarily Red Catuai, carefully picked, anaerobically processed, and dried for 22 days in the sun on raised beds.

As for the conditions where this masterpiece is grown, it thrives at 1100 - 1650masl altitudes under the watchful gaze of Myanmar's distinct weather, where humidity dances between 70 – 85%.

But that's not all. Alongside cultivating excellent coffee, Behind the Leaf contributes to creating sustainable water systems using rice husk-infused ceramic water filters, providing clean water to these indigenous groups. Thus, every sip of your coffee brewed from these beans supports not only your love for exceptional taste but also a cause that transcends borders.
