Coffee from Haiti is a rarity. While the altitude is lower than many regions, the cool sea breeze makes this a prime location for coffee. Coffee was brought to Haiti in the 1720’s and is one of the first regions in the new world to grow coffee. Coffee from Haiti is often called Haitian Bleu because the varietal Typica is the same that is grown in the Jamaican Blue Mountain region.
