Dual Boiler with Heat-Exchanger Preheat
- A 2.1L coffee boiler and 3.5L steam boiler run independently, with a heat exchanger inside the steam boiler preheating incoming brew water for rock-solid temperature stability.

The Speedster earned its reputation the old-fashioned way, one hand-built machine at a time. It started as a single commission Kees van der Westen made for his friend Doug Garrott, then grew into the flagship of his atelier in Waalre, Netherlands. Each one is made to order and assembled by hand, and this black version takes the icon and dresses it down into something stealthier.
The body wears a crackle-black powder coat, a finish with real texture and depth, and the milled aluminium side panel still carries the red "Speedster" lettering as a signature. It is the same sculpture, just in a darker, quieter register that disappears into a moody kitchen instead of shouting across it.
What it does has not changed at all. Two independent 316L stainless boilers, 2.1L for coffee and 3.5L for steam, work together with a heat exchanger inside the steam boiler that preheats the water headed for your group. PID controls both, with 0.1C adjustability on the coffee boiler, and an external 300W rotary pump handles the heavy lifting. The E61-style paddle group gives you manual pre-infusion by feel, and if you want programmable pressure profiling, the optional Idro-Matic cylinder is there for it.
It plumbs in, weighs about 45 kg, and runs on 220-240V power. Pick this one if you love everything the Speedster stands for but want it to read as understated rather than front and center. It is for the home barista who likes their gear serious and a little bit subtle.
Note: Custom machines take approximately 16 weeks to build and deliver.
Yes. The Speedster is a plumbed-in machine and needs a water supply and drainage. We recommend a treated water source within about 1.5 m of the machine and professional installation.
The standard paddle group gives manual pre-infusion. The optional Idro-Matic cylinder adds programmable pre-infusion pressure profiling, and we can add it to your order.
Yes. The body can be engine-turned stainless or any RAL colour, with milled aircraft-grade aluminium side panels and optional wood accents. Every machine is made to order.
Our units run on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, single phase, drawing up to about 3100W (13.5A at 230V). A dedicated 220-240V circuit is required, so most North American installations will need an electrician to install a suitable outlet. Contact us to confirm requirements for your installation.
Each Speedster is hand-built to order in the Netherlands, so lead times vary. Please contact us for the current estimate.
