This is a rare offering from Jamaica. Peaberry is a natural mutation of a coffee bean. Normally, coffee has two seeds (beans) that develop with flattened facing sides, but sometimes only one of the two seeds is fertilized, and the single seed develops with nothing to flatten it resulting in a oval shaped bean called a peaberry. About 5% of coffee has this characteristic. Peaberry’s are usually sorted by hand. This coffee’s aroma is softly penetrating and sweet with floral, spicy, and citric undertones. There is a presence of cocoa in its aftertaste.
